Set up search alerts to learn about opportunities

Use Handshake to search for jobs or internships, find inclusive employers, and create job search agents to receive email notifications when new opportunities are posted.

Get organized

Create a job/internship search spreadsheet to track applications, companies of interest and other opportunities.

Curate a target list of companies and begin networking with MIT alums or other contacts working there.

Create or update your resume and LinkedIn profile.

Meet with a CAPD staff member for feedback on your application materials or to prepare for interviews.

Make connections (network)

Attend employer-sponsored events to learn about companies and the available opportunities. Sign up for these events on Handshake.

Participate in a career fair to connect with employers who are actively hiring.

Develop a list of connections you might have developed through FSLIGs, UROPs, classes, or other extracurricular activities. Let them know you’re looking for a job or internship.

Network and conduct informational interviews with MIT alums to discuss job or internship search strategies.
