The PhD & postdoc career document library is a growing resource that offers you the opportunity to review a variety of different career documents from MIT PhD & postdoc alumni who have successfully secured positions in academia and industry. We are thrilled to offer these exceptional resources from our alumni, and we are grateful for their contributions. These are real examples of documents that worked, and we hope they are helpful guides as you consider ways to craft your own documents.

Whether you’re new to interviewing or looking to sharpen your skills, this module will give you practical tools and guidance to help you craft strong introductions, frame your experiences using proven storytelling techniques, and communicate your strengths in ways that align with the needs of your potential employers. With some strategy and practice, you’ll be sharing your stories with confidence and poise just in time for your interview.

If you have questions about formatting, writing, or tailoring your resume for industry jobs, this course is a great place to start. Within this course, we have provided resume guidelines, templates, examples, and writing strategies to help you get you started or revise your working drafts. You can take the course all at once (approximately 60 minutes) or use a more à la carte approach to get exactly what you need, whenever you’re ready.

The Faculty Job Search Guide supports graduate students and postdocs preparing for the faculty job market. These guides bring together information and expertise from around the Institute, including faculty, CAPD, the Writing and Communication Center, the Teaching and Learning Lab, the OGE, and the Engineering Communication Labs. Use them to strengthen your applications and gather insight from past workshops, examples from MIT alumni.
