What’s your Fulbright research project?
I am researching at the Technical University of Munich with the Chair for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Systems. I am implementing an optimization model to improve the placement of electric vehicle charging stations and the scheduling of workplace charging. I am also taking classes on energy system modeling and German language.
What are you doing for community engagement?
I am playing volleyball and am involved in the international student organization at my host university.
Any advice for future Fulbright research applicants?
If you are interested in a research grant, reach out to lots of different professors to get a sense of what working under them might be like. I started off by exploring research at universities in multiple different countries and then narrowing it down from there. Also, many MIT professors have contacts with other labs/professors at international universities, so reaching out to professors that you are close with is a great way to make connections as well.
Start working on essays early! It can take a long time to find a host institution and formalize a project for the statement of purpose, so it’s best to get the ball rolling as soon as possible.
Anything else you’d like to share?
Fulbright is a wonderful experience to explore a new place, experience a different culture and meet many cool people! Keep an open mind and be willing to try new things.
