As a lifeguard at West End House, you will bring your knowledge of pool health and safety best practices, training in lifeguard rescue, and passion for aquatics instruction to your work. You will facilitate an effective swim program catered to a diverse community of youth, primarily between the ages of 7-18. You will be responsible for supervising all program activities in the pool while being constantly prepared to step in and perform rescue procedures in case of an emergency. Additionally, you will be in charge of the West End House pool area and, in collaboration with the Facility Director, ensure the physical space is well maintained and compliant with relevant regulations.
During the execution of your duties, you will use your talents working with young people to build close-knit relationships that will help youth remain engaged in the programming. This is a part-time role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise the pool area during allocated swim time
- Complete and record water testing daily
- Implement swim lessons and any other aquatic program in collaboration with the Program Director
- Attract and recruit youth from within West End House programs as well as the broader community, to the program
- Administer deep end tests
- Build long-term, trusting relationships with the youth

- High school graduate
- LGT Certification (required)
- CPR/FPR and Standard First Aid Certification
- Past experience in aquatics program facilitation is a plus
WHAT WE OFFER The salary range for this role is $23-$25. Rates of pay within this range will be commensurate with experience and based on factors such as years of experience, educational qualifications, and proficiency in a second language.
