The scope of each placement is designed to promote team building, develop personal skills and technical skillset. You will receive guidance and career advice along the way. You will also participate in various different workshops specifically designed to assist you in building the critical skills needed in the workplace.

Veranova is seeking a motivated undergraduate with an interest in electrochemistry to join our chemical development group.
This program consists of a 10–12-week internship at our Devens, MA location.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Key Deliverables:
- Experiments to demonstrate capability.
- Optimize reaction conditions.
- Generate whitepaper/ paper/expert insights for the Veranova website.
Scope:
- Define reaction conditions, solvent selection, and workup process in batch from literature and internal reports.
- Appropriate selection of Vaportec reactors, heat exchangers, solvents, and pumps.
- Experiments in Vaportec for Birch reduction.
- Optimization of operating conditions, and solvent selection.
- Generation of reports & presentations.
Timelines:
- Week 1-2: Training and familiarization with Vaportec electrochemical reaction setup
- Week 3-4: Experimental protocol for Birch reduction in flow in Vaportec.
- Week 5-6: Optimize the operating conditions and solvent selection.
- Week 7-8: Report and presentation generation.
Success criteria:
- Successful completion of Birch reduction with higher yield and purity than batch.
- Demonstration of actionable insights and recommendations derived from the Vaportec experiments.
- Effective communication of project findings and recommendations through documentation and presentation.
Qualifications
- Working towards a BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related field
- Minimum Overall GPA of 2.7 required
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a true career aspiration to be a leader
- Must be adaptable, strive for excellence, and demonstrate a positive attitude in the face of adversity
- Strong interpersonal skills a must, coupled with a proven ability to build collaborative relationships to achieve results
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office required
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills essential
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US
