The Imaging and Algorithms team provides advanced feature development and system support for x-ray and CT systems. These systems are a vital part of the systems currently in use to ensure the safety of aviation travel, municipal buildings, and many high traffic public areas.
In order to deploy CT systems in airports around the US, a new testbed for automated conveyors must be designed and deployed. This testbed will enable the US factory to validate system function before the CT systems meets its companion conveyor system in the airport. The individual will work with the Technology and Manufacturing teams to develop, deploy, and document this capability.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Learn signal interface utilized by the Smiths Detection checkpoint CT system
- Interface with key stakeholders to understand needs of the internal team
- Design and refine a conveyor/BHS testbed to exercise the CT system functions
- Build testbed based on the design
- Train the user team on proper usage of the system
- Author manuals and development documentation for the final system
- Work on-site at Edgewood, MD.
- Complying with and promoting all relevant legal requirements & Smiths policies and procedures, including business ethics, data protection and health & safety
THE INDIVIDUAL:
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Degree-track undergraduate student in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
- Experience with machine automation design and programming
Desired Characteristics:
- Ability to work in matrixed environment with different profession types (i.e. engineers, software developers, project mangers, etc.)
- Programing skills in PLC, C++
- Platform experience working with Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Office
Eligibility Requirements:
- You must be 18 years or older
- You must be willing to work in an office in Edgewood, MD
- You must be willing to take and pass a drug test as part of the selection process
- You must be willing to submit to a background investigation as part of the selection process
