We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Intern to work on a cutting-edge research project focused on the analytical method development essential for the analysis of AAV based gene therapy. You’ll gain hands-on experience with essential techniques and instruments such as DNA purification and HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography) for analyzing gene therapy drug products. These tools play a critical role in characterizing manufacturing processes and assessing quality attributes of drug substances and products.
We’ll help you develop a strong foundation in analytical methods, equipping you to solve real-world challenges as part of a team working on our small and large molecule pipeline.
You’ll be part of departmental and project meetings, gaining insight into the drug development process in the pharmaceutical industry.
You’ll be responsible for maintaining meticulous records of experimental procedures and conducting thorough data analysis, which may have the opportunity to contribute to scientific publications, both within our organization and externally.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Instrumentation Proficiency: Gain hands-on experience with key instruments used for analyzing therapeutic biologics for manufacturing process characterization and assessing drug quality attributes.
- Method Development: Develop novel analytical methods to solve real-world challenges within a collaborative team.
- Meeting Participation: Attend departmental and project meetings to gain insight into the drug development process in the pharmaceutical industry.
- Record-keeping and Analysis: Maintain accurate electronic records of experimental details and perform thorough data analysis. This data may be used for internal or external scientific publications.
- Skill Development: Enhance laboratory skills, learn new analytical techniques, and address current challenges in analytical research and drug development.
- Research Presentation: Have the opportunity to present research findings through both oral presentations and written reports, showcasing your contributions to the field.
Desired Education and Skills:
- Undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in a relevant field, such as molecular biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a related discipline.

Program Timeline:
- This application is for a 10 or 12-week summer internship program that will either start on May 28th or June 10th.
- The program will conclude on August 16th, 2024.
This is a facility-dependent position where in-office presence is required four-five days a week.
This position requires work on site at one of Sarepta’s facilities in the United States.
The targeted salary range for this position is $21 – $25 per hour depending upon years of education completed and nature of role.
