Job Description:
Manager is open to recent grad candidates.
This position will be 1st shift (7 am to 3:30 pm) but start/end times need to be flexible based on production schedules. Overtime is likely, weekend and before shift starts.
Manager would like to see candidates with experience in a steel manufacturing environment. Exposure to turning, milling, gear cutting methods and finish grinding applications are a plus. Must be proficient with MS Office and experience working in a team environment. This is the same position/manager as JP38245 so only new candidates will be considered.
Will need metatarsals for first day, business casual dress code. No travel associated with this position. Person may drive a Deere owned Gator after successfully completing training. Visa sponsorship is not available, now or in the near future, for this position. Interviews will take place onsite or through MS Teams and the position will start onsite on the first day.
Primary Position Responsibilities & Duties
Recommend and implement cost reduction, quality, safety, and ergonomic improvement ideas. Lead team studies related to capacity, productivity, and efficiency
Establish routings, methods, layouts, tools, costs, methods documentation, quality plans and labor standards for revisions to current operations
Lead selection, procurement of metal removal machines; lead planning and implementation of machining cells
Lead new model preparations and procurement of tooling, gauges, new machines and more for an efficient production process
Required Skills, Knowledge, & Relevant Work Experience
Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills to interact with all levels in the organization and supplier personnel
Demonstrated high ability with Excel, Outlook, Word
Demonstrated ability to proficiently use algebra, geometry, and trigonometry
Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete multiple, concurrent projects
Ability and willingness to work variable hours to include off-shifts and overtime including weekend days if needed
Three or more years’ experience as a manufacturing engineer in a component manufacturing environment related to turning, milling, drilling.
Demonstrated experience with the selection and procurement of capital equipment
Experience with machine programming related to gear and spline cutting processes.
Desired Skills, Knowledge & Relevant Work Experience
Experience in roles that required a working knowledge of turning, milling, drilling and hard finishing of ferrous materials
Experience applying gear and shaft manufacturing tools and technology
Experience in shop floor process adjustments necessary to correct geometry and quality problems
Experience with interpreting part prints and GD&T designations
Experience with the use of AutoCAD or related software
Experience with leading and supporting cross functional teams for projects of moderate scope
Experience using Power BI, Tableau, or other data analysis tools
Experience in using SAP
Education (Specific Branch of Study, Certificate)
Bachelor’s degree in Ag Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial
Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, related technical degree
or equivalent working experience
