Summary
This application is for a 6-month student role from July – December 2024. Resume review begins in January 2024.
This role will support Biologics and Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products process and analytical development teams. This team is responsible for product development for all large molecules within Biogen’s pipeline and our data is used in regulatory filings.
Position Description
Process and analytical data are generated from a wide range of sources and data access and visualization can be tedious and limited. Automated, high-throughput instruments stand to increase the rate of data generation and present challenges in organizing and analyzing experiment outputs. The goal of this project is to build automated workflow solutions to decrease workflow complexity, introduce standardization and increase data accessibility to drive decision-making in both analytical and process development applications.
Responsibilities will include:
Data Cleaning and Preprocessing:
– Utilize R programming to clean and preprocess datasets for analysis.
– Perform data validation and ensure data integrity throughout the process.
Analysis:
– Develop and implement statistical models using R to derive insights from data.
– Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and correlations.
Visualization and Reporting:
– Create visual representations of data using R packages for effective communication of findings.
– Assist in generating reports and presentations summarizing analysis results.
Collaboration:
– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and contribute R coding expertise.
– Provide support in troubleshooting coding issues and optimizing existing R scripts.
Documentation:
– Document code, methodologies, and procedures followed for future reference.
This project will include education on lab practices and process and analytical workflows to guide script and application development. A successful project would deliver scripts and R applications for data management and high-throughput experiment workflows, as well as documentation for how to maintain the workflows in the future. Project deliverables will be implemented to improve workflow efficiency.
Example projects may include:
Curating legacy data and building R applications for entry into databases and that interface with those databases and have flexible structures based on report type.
Integration of data/database entries with data visualization platforms.
Integration of legacy systems into an application for experiment setup, data collation, and analysis in high-throughput process development with automated liquid handlers.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in R and Shiny programming language.
Strong understanding of data manipulation and visualization techniques.
Experience with data analysis software such as MATLAB.
Familiarity with automated liquid handling equipment is a plus.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
