Beam is seeking a talented and highly motivated co-op student to join our Liver Therapeutics Team from July to December 2024. The individual will work on early discovery screening and lead optimization in immortalized and primary cultured cells to identify novel therapeutic reagents for disease programs. This position will play an important role in advancing new programs from discovery towards the clinic and will provide an opportunity to learn more about the exciting new field of genetic medicine. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of basic cell biology and laboratory procedures, but more importantly should have enthusiasm for learning new techniques.
Responsibilities:
- Mammalian cell culture, including cell transfection.
- Perform a range of cellular and molecular biology techniques including ELISA, RT-qPCR, NGS, etc.
- Document, summarize and present studies and findings to an internal audience.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a BS or MS in biology, cell and molecular biology, biomedical engineering, or related field of study.
- Completed entry-level courses in biology, chemistry, cell biology, biochemistry, or molecular biology.
- Experience in cell culture, common laboratory practices, and a basic understanding of genomics is highly desirable.
- Must be proficient in maintaining a detailed and organized electronic laboratory notebook and following written protocols.
- Motivated to learn, collaborative, detail-oriented, and efficient at time management.
