Beam is looking for a curious, enthusiastic, and self-motivated Co-op to join the Analytical Research & Development team from July though December 2024. This position will be working with Analytical Research & Development scientists on development of state-of-the-art biophysical characterization assays for a wide range of molecules, such as lipid nanoparticles (LNPs), mRNAs, gRNAs, and mAbs. This position will play a key role in supporting the development of novel gene editing therapies and will work together with multiple internal and external collaborators to support therapeutics programs and other research activities.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute biophysical assays in collaboration with other scientists.
- Maintain good records of laboratory procedures.
- Perform data analysis and visualization using appropriate software.
- Build customized data processing pipeline when necessary.
- Present at cross-functional team meetings.
Qualifications:
- Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
- Basic laboratory experience.
- High level of engagement.
- Good communication and inter-personal skills.
- Experience in biophysical characterization tools such as DLS, SEC-MALS, FFF-MALS, NanoFlow Cytometer, and/or cryoEM is a plus.
- Experience with image-editing/image analysis software is a plus.
