About the role – you will:
- Ensure clear understanding of the background on Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and the current and future impacted regulatory implications of the various PFAS substances in use at Seagate.
- Identify the potential vendor chemical and component subgroups that could potentially contain the impacted PFAS substances.
- Identify critical manufacturers of these potential chemicals and vendor components.
- Investigate the usage of these impacted PFAS substances, and options for potential alternatives.
- Complete other general EHS tasks as needed, with the opportunity to gain exposure to multiple EHS programs including Chemical Management, Wastewater, Stormwater, Industrial Hygiene, Training, Safety Inspections, Electrical Safety, etc.
- Work both independently and in consultation with technical professionals at the site.
- Gain valuable experience that complements class work and that provides essential career development opportunities.
- Learn to apply engineering, analytical, and communication skills to impact the bottom line.
- Be exposed to a wide variety of EHS practices and Seagate EHS Policies, and be provided with experience working with both EHS and Facilities professional(s).
About you:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to this position
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ensure diversity of perspectives, ask for others’ input and actively listen to feedback
- Ability to identify inefficiencies in systems and processes that have an impact on performance
- Desire to work collaboratively with others
Your experience includes:
- Completion of coursework in industrial engineering, chemistry, related EHS programs, or another related field
- Previous work or project experience that demonstrated the ability to take on challenging tasks, plan ahead, take ownership, and collaborate with others
- Pursuit of a MS degree in EHS, Environmental Engineering or related field and returning to school in Fall 2024
