About the Organization:
By creating supportive relationships between students and volunteer mentors, Boston Partners in Education (BPIE) ensures a more equitable city where every Boston Public Schools (BPS) student is equipped with the skills, opportunity, and confidence to succeed in the classroom and beyond. BPIE recruits, trains, places, and supports volunteers to work with students in grades K-12, one-on-one or in small groups, primarily during the school day. BPIE is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Position Description:
BPIE is seeking a Graphic Design Intern to join its team from mid-June through mid-August 2024 (exact dates negotiable). The Graphic Design Intern will support the Executive Director to develop designs and materials that will serve Boston Partners in Education’s overall outreach, fundraising, and marketing goals.
The primary responsibilities of the Graphic Design Intern will include conceptualizing and building design assets for social media posts, digital newsletters, annual report, and other needs as time allows.
The ideal candidate is a creative, enthusiastic individual with an eye for design, branding, and both digital and print media. This is a part-time, seasonal position, reporting to the Executive Director.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Learning and executing the BPIE brand standards
- Brainstorming ideas for original content
- Designing materials for social media posts
- Creating a template for the organization’s digital newsletters in MailChimp
- Designing the layout for BPIE’s 2024 Annual Report
- Produce final deliverables that include Canva files for BPIE’s continued use (any materials can be used in Intern’s personal/professional portfolio)
Qualifications:
- Academic or professional experience in digital communications, advertising, fine arts, graphic design, marketing or related fields
- Knowledge of common design software and tools including Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
- Some experience with HTML/CSS or WordPress a plus
- Experience developing visual content for social media, web, and print
- Ability to meet concurrent deadlines by setting priorities, organizing time, and identifying resources and assistance as needed
- A strong collaborator and team member while also able to work independently and take initiative
