Career Exploration Leaders & Program Assistant

Career Exploration Leaders work with academic and student support departments, student groups, alumni, and employers to develop and execute career exploration events for undergraduates and graduate students, that will be held during the fall semester and the Independent Activities Period (IAP). Each position involves independent and team projects and these roles are a fit for students who are excited about exercising their skills in leadership, event planning, and marketing.

The CAPD Program Assistant manages and supports career programs during the school year with an emphasis on alumni events and career exploration. Program Assistants have the opportunity to:

  • build relationships with interesting and successful alumni
  • gain leadership, communication, and program management experience while making a big impact by planning events for the entire MIT student body
  • learn more about careers and have the chance to explore for your own career

Desi Soetanto

CAPD Program Assistant

Desi is a 2nd year MBA student at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Desi grew up in New Zealand and Australia where she attended The University of Melbourne and obtained a Bachelor of Commerce. Prior to joining MIT, Desi served clients across Australia, USA, and Southeast Asia to help enhance organizational performance through her role as a Management Consultant, most recently at McKinsey & Company.

Outside of the classroom, Desi loves sightseeing and exploring exotic cuisines. She is excited to create meaningful events to help students navigate their career interests by engaging them with a diverse group of MIT alumni.
