Quick facts: 2021 Virtual Fall Career Fair Series

Building on the model developed in 2020, MIT’s 2021 Fall Career Fair — a student-run event supported by Career Advising and Professional Development (CAPD) — was hosted virtually on the Brazen platform. Employer booths were split across three dates, based on industry: Data Analytics, Consulting, and Finance (Sept. 24); Computer Science & Social Impact (Sept. 28); and Design, Engineering, and Research (Oct. 6). 

More detailed metrics from the fair series will be available later this fall. 

Overall initial topline statistics: 

Candidate, employer representative, and organization participation numbers are non-unique, as candidates and employers could attend more than one fair. 

  • Candidates attended: 2,876 
  • Employer representatives attended: 1,320 
  • Chats held (text/video/audio): 7,944 
  • Organizations participating): 289, + 3 MIT departments (UPOP, Sloan, and Gordon-MIT Engineering Leadership Program) 

Data Analytics, Consulting, and Finance Virtual Career Fair (Sept. 24) | Initial topline statistics 

  • Candidates attended: 948 (68% of those registered) 
  • Employer representatives attended: 287 (95% of those registered) 
  • Chats held (Text/Video/Audio): 2,374 
  • Most Chats for Single Employer: Hudson River Trading – 125 chats 
  • Organizations participating: 64, +2 MIT Departments (UPOP and Sloan) 

Computer Science and Social Impact (Sept. 26) | Initial topline statistics 

  • Candidates attended: 1,068 (65% of those registered) 
  • Employer representatives attended: 544 (94% of those registered) 
  • Chats held (Text/Video/Audio): 2,929 
  • Most Chats for Single Employer: nVidia – 131 chats 
  • Organizations participating: 113, +2 MIT Departments (UPOP and Sloan) 

Design, Engineering, and Research (Oct. 6) | Initial topline statistics 

  • Candidates attended: 860 (50% of those registered) 
  • Employer representatives attended: 489 (94% of those registered) 
  • Chats held (Text/Video/Audio): 2,641 
  • Most Chats for Single Employer: NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory – 115 chats 
  • Organizations participating: 112, +1 MIT Department (Gordon-MIT Engineering Leadership Program)
