The firm is seeking someone with an electrical engineering or physics background, and preferably experience in the area(s) of optics/photonics, and/or quantum communications or computing. No law degree is required, but an advanced engineering or science degree is preferred.
As a Technology Specialist, the position will support all areas of patent application preparation and prosecution of patent applications through the United States Patent and Trademark Office, under supervision of a registered patent attorney or agent. The position will include close interaction with engineers and entrepreneurs working on cutting edge technologies.
Paths for advancement include: (1) becoming a registered patent agent after passing the patent bar examination for individuals seeking recognition to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (offered year-round via computer at test centers across the country and on a date and time chosen by the applicant), or (2) becoming patent attorney after graduation from law school (e.g., from a part-time/evening program) and passing the patent bar examination.
