Position Summary
Plexium is seeking a Research Associate II to join our DNA encoding library team, to assist with the synthesis of high quality and reproducible DNA encoded chemical libraries using the latest techniques in molecular biology and DNA sequencing. This role will start at a critical point of growth as we scale our capacity and technical development efforts to expand to novel DNA compatible chemistries. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment and play a key role in supporting Plexium’s ultra-high throughput drug discovery efforts.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments, analyze data, interpret, and present results in cross-functional team meetings
- Run qPCR and Next Generation Sequencing based QC assays
- Execute sequencing experiments based on defined experimental plans
- Perform bead-based DNA encoded library construction
- Perform sequencing sample preparation
- Maintain lab notebook to track experimental details
- Contribute to the development of SOPs
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues in biochemistry, engineering, bioinformatics, and chemistry
Education and Experience Requirements
- BS in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field
- 3+ years of hands-on research experience in a bio/biochemistry/molecular biology assays and operating lab equipment
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong foundational knowledge and techniques in molecular biology, chemistry or related field
- Programming experience is a plus (Python, R, Matlab, etc)
- Experience with NGS, sample/library prep and standard DNA/RNA protocols preferred
- Cell culture experience preferred
- Possesses ability to work independently and apply learned knowledge
- Detail oriented, strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills
