NYU’s Stern School of Business has an exciting opportunity for an Associate Director, Communications at our Center for Sustainable Business (CSB). CSB’s mission is to prepare individuals and organizations with the knowledge, skills, and tools needed to embed social and environmental sustainability into core business strategy. The Associate Director will develop and lead execution of CSB’s strategy for communications, outreach, and public events in order to promote CSB thought leadership and programming to its target audiences in and outside of the NYU Stern community. The Associate Director will oversee the production of high visibility research and thought leadership outputs and ensure a polished digital presence that provides audiences with up-to-date and accessible information about CSB programs, tools, and research. The Associate Director will lead strategy, stakeholder engagement, and marketing for public events, including CSB’s cornerstone annual conference. The Associate Director will facilitate CSB’s relationship with the Stern Public Affairs team and outside media and communications contacts. The Associate Director will oversee maintenance of contact information databases, will develop, track, evaluate, and report on metrics of success, and adapt strategies to grow and improve outreach results over time.
This is a 2 year fixed-term position, with start date ASAP and end date in December 2023.
The selected candidate will have a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) and 5+ years relevant experience in communications, public relations, marketing, events, or journalism. Extremely strong writing and editing skills, with keen attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to develop influential communications targeting different audiences. Experience with public affairs, media outreach, business communications, and event management. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, both independently and collaboratively across the CSB team and other departments. Highly motivated and proactive with strong organizational and project management skills. Demonstrated knowledge of and/or commitment to corporate sustainability is desired but not required. Experience with email marketing and social media in a professional setting is preferred. Knowledge of MailChimp, Google Analytics, LinkedIn, PowerPoint, Canva, Salesforce, Google Office Suite and similar tools is preferred.
