The Manufacturing Process Engineer Intern will support the development of Indium’s next generation high volume manufacturing equipment. The goal of this system(s) will be increased process efficiency/speed, reduced setup complexity, significantly longer production runs, etc. This will require developing an understanding of punch press and die operation, mechanical/electrical sensor operation and integration as well as a general understanding of various automation and mechanical technologies.
•Interface with engineers, tool makers and operators to develop an understanding of punch presses, dies, automated stamping and packaging processes, camera inspections systems, etc.
•Investigate alternative technologies (automation, electrical, mechanical, etc.) and machine configurations that will enable the overarching design goals.
•Create mechanical models and drawings, hold and participate in design reviews.
•Create 3-D printed prototype hardware, order fabricated materials, assemble and test hardware, etc.
•B.S. candidate in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
•Hands-on mechanical knowledge and experience helpful
•CAD (AutoCad or SoldWorks) experience preferred
•Highly developed organizational skills and ability to multitask
•Ability to communicate in a clear, organized and professional manner in both written and oral form
