This position is an Environmental Engineer for the Division of Sanitation Facilities Construction with locations at the Sault Ste. Marie District Office (Sault Ste. Marie, MI), Bemidji Area Office (Bemidji, MN), Ashland Field Office (Ashland, WI), and Rhinelander Field Office (Rhinelander, WI). This position reports to the District Engineer or designee.
- Performs all engineering tasks required for the design of individual and community sanitation facilities including water supply and distribution, sewage collection and treatment and solid waste collection and disposal methods.
- Performs site visits to obtain information such as condition of systems, location of sewer mains, local water pressures, plumbing layouts, etc., investigates malfunctioning water and sewer system components, and makes preliminary diagnosis.
- Estimates cost, manpower, and material necessary to correct malfunctioning systems and submits recommendations to supervisor or his designate.
- Performs duties concerned with the administration of contracts for sanitation facility construction, insuring that actual construction complies with designs and specifications and safety requirements.
Basic Requirements: Degree in Engineering
