Harrity & Harrity is excited to launch Patent Pathways, a Diversity & Inclusion Program dedicated to increasing numbers of registered patent attorneys and patent agents within the least-represented demographics and improving awareness of patent career opportunities for engineers in underrepresented demographics.
All patent bar expenses will be paid for each participant.
What is the Patent Pathways program?
The Program: This program will provide participants with an introduction to patent law and a pathway toward a career in patent law. The pathway includes mentorship, tools to assist taking and passing the registration examination (patent bar), multiple phases of patent preparation and prosecution training, scholarships, internships, and assistance with career development. This program, which launches on January 25, 2022, aims to register 20 participants with the U.S.P.T.O. in the first year.
The Cost: Through the commitment of corporate sponsors the Patent Pathways program is being offered to participants at no cost to them.
Participant Requirements and Commitment:
- You have or are obtaining a technical degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent fields from an accredited college or university (See link for further details)
- You are able and willing to commit to every scheduled class in the selected course
- You reside in the U.S. and are eligible to sit for the U.S. Patent Bar but are not yet registered

The program offers participants various pathways and support structures to prepare for and pass the Patent Bar examination and ultimately engage in a career as a patent agent or attorney. The program can be completed in as little as 14 weeks, but includes the opportunity for extension for participants who are interested in skills training in patent prosecution and patent drafting.
