We are looking for a self-motivated postdoctoral fellow to help elevate the transient gene expression platforms to the next level. The successful candidate will work to investigate the bottlenecks in our platform processes with the goal of improving expression of the existing molecule formats and building platforms to express the novel molecule formats developed by gRED. Success of this project will enable higher, faster, and better recombinant protein production to support early stage research at Genentech. The selected candidate is expected to collaborate with scientists from Cell Culture Bioprocess Operations and Genentech Research and Development at Roche/Genentech.
The ideal candidate should have expertise and working knowledge in molecular biology, mammalian cell culture (HEK293 and CHO), cell biology, and biochemistry. Critical thinking and familiarity with standard molecular biology techniques, DNA manipulation and cloning, western blotting, qPCR/ RT-PCR, gene transfection, recombinant protein production and analysis are essential. The candidate must have the ability to apply scientific principles to solve complex problems.
The candidate must be a good communicator with strong presentation skills and the ability to investigate and convey complex projects both verbally and in writing. Expectations for this position include very strong work ethics, being highly collaborative, initiation and completion of investigative projects within the expected time frames, and with emphasis on accuracy and high-quality work.
A PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, or a related field with 0-2 years of postdoc experience is required. Qualified candidates are expected to have first author publications in disciplines such as virology, cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry.
