Role Overview

Erria is seeking a highly motivated Founding Engineer with the opportunity to take on a co-founder title. As one of our first key hires, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s product, culture, and growth trajectory. This role offers the rare opportunity to lead greenfield development, building Erria’s platform from the ground up and shaping its technical foundation for long-term scalability.

We’re looking for a strategic thinker and strong communicator who thrives in fast-paced environments and is ready to embrace the risks and rewards of joining a mission-driven startup. You should be a skilled full-stack (primarily backend with strong devops skills) developer who values creativity, design, and thoughtful innovation. This role requires someone who can lead technical development while aligning with our long-term vision and effectively communicating with both technical and non-technical team members.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Technical Knowledge: You will lead the development of the next iteration of Erria’s platform, ensuring scalability, performance, and a seamless user experience.

    • Experience with Node.js, React, and database management is essential to build a robust and reliable system.
    • Ensure the platform is scalable, secure, and reliable by managing the cloud infrastructure. Help design and implement solutions that support the platform’s growth and performance.
    • As a marketplace platform, experience with secure payment systems (e.g., Stripe), inventory/order management, and advanced search/filtering is essential.
    • Knowledge on integrating AI-powered features like image recognition, tagging, and recommendations to enhance maker discovery and user experience.
  • Startup Experience: Proven ability to build products from the ground up or work in fast-paced startup environments. Experience with marketplaces or social networks is a plus, as this will be helpful in shaping our platform’s growth.
  • Team Leadership: Hire, onboard, and manage small team of offshore developers and when the time comes, recruit a robust domestic engineering team.
  • Strategic Thinking & Communication: Be able to think strategically about the platform’s growth and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders across different departments. You will play a critical role in aligning the team around a shared vision and ensuring technical decisions are in line with business goals.
  • Creativity and Design Appreciation: A passion for design and creativity, with an understanding of the value in crafting user-centric technology.
  • Entrepreneurial Drive: A self-starter with the resilience and creativity to thrive in a lean, resourceful startup environment.
  • Mission Alignment: Desire to build a company that prioritizes holistic growth, long-term positive impact, and transforming global consumer patterns.

Our Values

At Erria, we value innovation, creativity, and collaboration and are committed to building a company that balances quality of life with rigor and organization to create a meaningful, lasting impact. As our Founding Engineer, you will define not only our product but also the foundation of our team and culture.
