The BMS Immuno-Oncology and Cell Therapy Thematic Research Center (IO-CT TRC) is dedicated to research supporting development of novel cellular therapies based on two distinct and complementary platforms – Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) and Engineered T Cell Receptor (eTCR) technologies. Our goal is to revolutionize medicine by re-engaging the body’s immune system to treat cancer.
The Engineered T Cell Biology team, within the IO-CT TRC, is seeking an early career stage immunologist or molecular/cellular biologist for a Postdoctoral Fellowship. For this role, candidates with an interest in immunology, cancer immunology, cancer cell therapy, molecular biology, or synthetic biology are invited to apply. Our team’s overall goal is to discover and modulate key transcriptional and epigenetic circuits that regulate anti-cancer immune response by engineered T cells, for enhancing the overall potential of cellular therapies in BMS’ Research & Early Development Pipeline.
This position is in a highly collaborative, innovative, and rapidly evolving environment and interfaces with teams and functions across IO-CT TRC. A postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for exploratory work in T cell biology, thus enabling a development of highly efficacious cancer cell therapies. Functioning under the supervision of a lead scientist, the postdoctoral fellow will design, organize and conduct highly specialized and advanced studies, as well as analyze and present findings cross-functionally to BMS teams. In addition, research findings for this role are intended to be publishable as conference papers, in peer-reviewed journals or presented at appropriate national and international conferences.
A successful candidate will have working knowledge of cell and molecular biology, and cellular and molecular biology techniques. Prior experience with human native or CAR/TCR-engineered T cells is a plus but not required.
Postdoctoral Fellowships at BMS provide an opportunity to early career stage biomedical scientists who have completed their doctorate and have less than three years of relevant postdoctoral work experience. This fellowship will help launch their careers and provide training and experience that will enhance their career prospects. BMS Postdoctoral Fellows are appointed for up to three years and carry out innovative and impactful research of strategic importance to BMS with the possibility of novel and important scientific outcomes.
· Design experiments, execute and coordinate wet lab experiments and data analysis.
· Perform functional characterization of engineered T cells.
· Communicate progress and results at team meetings and cross-functionally across BMS.
· Contribute to Company’s IP portfolio.
· Present scientific findings in publications and at conferences.
Qualifications & Experience
· Recent Ph.D. in basic research methods of immunology, cellular and/or molecular biology.
· Highly organized, with the ability to manage large amounts of complex data and independently track progress through varying stages of a project.
· Self-motivated as an individual contributor, but also excited about working in a highly collaborative matrixed environment
· Excellent written and verbal communication, and strong organizational skills to facilitate managing complex and demanding projects.
