Brann & Isaacson has an opening for a full–time paralegal–research analyst to commence employment in the summer of 2022.
The firm seeks a recent college graduate with strong academic credentials. Prior legal studies are not necessary. We are interested in interviewing recent graduates or college seniors who have strong academic credentials, along with well–developed research, analytical and writing skills. The successful applicant will be highly motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a legal team.
The paralegal position at Brann & Isaacson presents a unique opportunity for those students who are interested in the possibility of pursuing a legal career. Our paralegals become exposed to the practice of law through the hands–on experience of working closely with experienced lawyers and having direct contact with clients. Brann & Isaacson is a firm of 20 attorneys located in southern Maine that represents multichannel retailers, other direct marketing companies and many other growing businesses, including providers of IT products and services. More information about our practice can be obtained by visiting us on the Internet at www.brannlaw.com.
In contrast to many law firms, Brann & Isaacson immerses its paralegals in the most active aspects of a busy law firm. They work directly with attorneys, from the senior partner to the most junior associate, and they often participate in strategy sessions and have opportunities to interact one–on–one with clients. Although the firm’s lawyers provide close support and supervision, paralegals exercise a high level of individual responsibility and initiative. We expect them to think independently and creatively. Training will be provided as needed on Westlaw and other specialized research databases. Responsibilities may include developing data assessments for tax proceedings, researching legal issues and drafting memoranda, conducting witness interviews, assisting in responding to pre–trial discovery requests, organizing and abstracting documents produced in litigation, developing graphic and other demonstrative exhibits for use at trial, and participating in trials in a support capacity.
Brann & Isaacson strives to provide its paralegals with an intellectually challenging and stimulating real–world legal experience. A stint at Brann & Isaacson will provide the aspiring law student with a unique insight into the legal profession and an opportunity to develop skills that are directly applicable to success in law school. Paralegals and summer law clerks who have worked at Brann & Isaacson have attended some of the nation’s most prestigious law schools, including Harvard, the University of Chicago, Columbia, Yale, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of California (Berkeley), Duke and NYU.
