Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston (BGCB) education programs are designed for our members to be prepared for their lives after the Club. The Director of Academic Success will handle the oversight of the education programming across all Clubs to ensure all youth are reading and understanding math on grade level and become effective, engaged, adaptive learners who are on track to graduate with a plan and essential skills needed for their futures.
What You Will Do:
- Assist in the academic professional development and training of education staff across BGCB sites.
- Align National, State, Local, BGCA, and BGCB education standards with BGCB education programs.
- Develop/revise/maintain program activity standards and relevant policies as they pertain to education staff and programming.
- Develop and implement a strategy for addressing summer learning loss, including incorporating literacy and STEM into camp programming across all sites.
- Actively seek out new resources, such as program opportunities, to support education programs and staff across all sites.
- Evaluate current and new program partners and offerings to ensure consistency and the highest program quality.
- Manage relationships with literacy and STEM program partners.
- Supervise the use and facilitation of online learning platforms across all sites.
- Serve as BGCB’s Teen Education and School Age Education Program Team Leader. Provide oversight of education programs, such as College Club, Power Hour, and Junior STEM.
- Advocate for BGCB within city and state academic communities, including Boston Public Schools and Chelsea Public Schools.
- In collaboration with in-Club education staff, we plan annual academic-focused events, including College fairs, spelling bees, Math Olympiads, and Battle of the Minds.
- Collaborate with the Alumni Engagement, Development and Finance departments in the stewardship of BGCB scholarships and other scholarship opportunities.
- Maintain academic success SharePoint pages, including resource sharing and scholarship opportunities.
- Develop curriculum for summer educational programs for such as the Young Leaders and Counselors-In-Training programs.
- Work closely with the Chief Impact Officer and Chief Operating Officer to establish a new educational ecosystem for BGCB. This position will have a dotted line to the Chief Operating Officer.
- Develop and manage collaborative partnerships with local colleges and universities for various organizational initiatives, including tours, tutoring, and on-campus enrichment.
- Work with the AVP of Operations, Impact & Strategy and Director of Evaluation and Outcomes to assess member literacy in math, reading and science competency annually.
- Travel consistently between sites and to activities to support direct service staff.
- Participate in youth-related training including mandatory reporting, boundaries, and behavioral management.
- Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in educational administration, academic support services, or a related area.
- A bachelor’s degree in Education, Educational Administration, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing academic success programs, preferably in a nonprofit or educational setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships with youth, staff, and external partners.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of current educational trends, best practices in academic support, and familiarity with data-driven decision-making.
- Passion for education and commitment to the mission of the nonprofit organization.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in relevant technology and software used in academic support and administration.
