Beginning your portfolio can feel overwhelming, especially when you have competing priorities. Unsure of how to start? Keep it simple and follow the tips below. Remember, you can always meet with a CAPD advisor for individual support.
Select the right content
When selecting portfolio content, less is more. Select 4-5 projects relevant to your field of interest. Reflect on the story you would like to tell to those in your field.
Content that can be included in your portfolio:
- a cover sheet with name & contact info and table of contents
- a professional bio
- the “right” projects (for your audience)
- a balance of group work vs. individual responsibilities
- skills (& software/hardware/machining/drafting)
- visuals and media
- personal projects, artwork, or “passion projects”
