Drop-in appointments at CAPD: What they are, when to use them, and more

As part of the creation of the new advising hub on the Infinite, CAPD will now be offering appointments, drop-ins, and programs in Building 7! We will maintain our presence in Building E17 on East Campus, continuing our close connection to Kendall Square’s industry and innovation. Learn more about our two locations and how to reach them.


When should I use a drop-in? What can they help with?

These short, 15-minute meetings are perfect for quick questions or help with topics like these:

  • Brief resume section/entry review
  • Finding resources on capd.mit.edu or around campus
  • Outreach to a recruiter or responding to an offer
  • Finding an event or career fair
  • Tips on attending an event
  • Elevator pitch practice
  • Graduate school tips
  • Using Handshake or other job boards

Career Advising Drop-ins

Location: Career Advising drop-ins are held our 7-103 location (right off the Infinite Corridor).

Winter Time: During the winter, now through December 18, 2025, available Monday – Thursday, from 1:00PM – 2:00PM.

During IAP from January 2-31, 2026, available Monday – Thursday, from 12:00PM – 1:00PM.

Drop-ins will pause during MIT’s winter closing and on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (January 19, 2026

Drop-in length: Up to 15-minutes; first come, first served.

Location: Prehealth Advising drop-ins are held our 7-103 location (right off the Infinite Corridor).

Time: During the semester, available Tuesdays from 1:00PM – 2:00PM.

Drop-in length: Up to 15-minutes; first come, first served.

Graduate Student Professional Development Drop-in Resource Lounge

Location: Graduate Student Professional Development’s Drop-in Resource Lounge is held our 7-103 location (right off the Infinite Corridor).

Time: During the semester, available Thursdays from 3:00PM – 4:00PM.
