Zap Energy is searching for an intern to work on our Data Science team. This person will be involved in analysis and documentation in support of our efforts to develop commercialized fusion energy. Activities will include analyzing metadata and presenting scientific findings related to neutron measurements. This intern will also be responsible for helping to create our internal repository of important scientific measurements. This includes working with diagnosticians and theoreticians to compile important measurements and simulations and reporting them on our internal website to help make the information more available.
This internship is in person at our office in Everett, WA.
Education:
- Currently studying for their Bachelors in physics, chemistry, engineering, or other technical field.
Experience:
- Required: experience interfacing with multiple people like scientists and engineers to understand multiple complex diagnostics
- Required: familiar with data science packages in Python like pandas, scikit, or similar
- Required: demonstrated ability to communicate scientific results to people with large varieties of backgrounds
- Preferred: Background in physics
- Preferred: experience writing analysis code in large collaborative environments.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and analyze neutronics metadata
- Present and generate reports to contribute to the team’s physical understanding of the machine
- Work with scientists from multiple disciplines to understand multiple diagnostics and create reports summarizing key physical results on our internal document database
- This is a paid internship opportunity aligned with university guidelines. Work authorization will be required.
