SUMMARY
Nexamp is seeking a Lead Design Engineer to perform engineering and project support tasks for commercial and utility scale photovoltaic systems and energy storage systems. The team is looking for a subject matter expert in utility scale or behind the meter energy storage.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Independently handle complex & novel construction level designs
- Provide technical support to Nexamp development, engineering, procurement, construction, and O&M departments for the entire life cycle of a project including development, permitting, construction, and asset management phases.
- Create drawings sets for development, permitting, construction, and record design phases for solar power plants utilizing AutoCAD and PVCase software.
- Create energy models for solar power plants utilizing Helioscope and PVSYST software
- Drive new product research and implementation
- Perform value engineering to optimize project economic and technical profile
- Develop and manage relationships with a network of vendors and engineering consultants for the entire life cycle of a project including development, permitting, construction, and asset management phases with engineering oversight
- Actively support Design Management in training of engineering department personnel and development of design drawing libraries.
- Serve as a company subject matter expert in at least one of the areas of focus of the Design team
- Proactively optimize existing processes and tools
- Additional duties as assigned and/or directed
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, self-motivated, hands-on, results-oriented, and a team player. Key qualifications as follows:
- 4+ years of solar design engineering experience
- AutoCAD software proficiency
- PVSYST software proficiency
- PVCase software proficiency preferred
- MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software proficiency
- Knowledge of industry standard design codes such as National Electric Code, International Building Code, International Fire Code and other standards relevant to the industry
- Strong knowledge of electrical principles
- Knowledge of medium voltage distribution and protection systems preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to supervise a junior engineer as well as work independently
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks
- EIT or MS of Science strong preferred
- PE preferred
- NABCEP Certification required
