New Faculty Job Search Series receives 800+ registrations to date (and there’s still time to register!)

This summer, CAPD’s graduate student- and postdoc-supporting team has been working to promote our Faculty Job Search Series.

This new year-round programming offers PhDs and postdocs a variety of opportunities to prepare for their own tenure-track faculty job searches. The summer is a great time to engage with 8 workshops and panels occurring between June 1 and August 15.

Through these workshops, trainees have the opportunity to learn more about the faculty job application process with our overviews of essentials, see examples and refine their own documents with our hands-on sessions, and hear from experts across the Institute in our deep dive discussions.

Graduate students and postdocs are encouraged to participate in as many programs as they would like, and the response has been overwhelming. We’ve received over 800 registrations so far from graduate students, postdocs, and alumni, and we have had more than 350 participants to date!

In July, we’re excited to welcome two Institute collaborators who will share their knowledge and expertise: Janet Rankin, PhD, Director of MIT’s Teaching + Learning Lab will visit to discuss teaching statements; and Kuheili Dutt, PhD, Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the MIT School of Science will review the finer points of diversity statements.

There’s still plenty of time to sign up, so please encourage your graduate students and postdocs to join us! Registrations are live on Handshake, and more events will be posted soon for the fall semester.
