10 Resources to Find a Summer Experience

Thinking about your summer plans? Use the resources listed below to explore your options. 

1. Handshake  

Both undergraduates and graduate students can use Handshake to search for summer internships. 

2. MIT ELx 

MIT undergrads can search for various summer 2021 opportunities, sort by department, funding source (ELO stipend or department funded) 

3. PKG Center Social Impact Internships 

Undergraduates can complete social impact internships with the PKG Center’s community partners 

4. Virtual career fairs 

Connect with employers via video or text chats – there are virtual career fairs for both graduate and undergraduate students. 

5. Alumni Advisors Hub & the Alumni Directory  

Use these resources to connect with alums to ask for advice, information and for suggestions on how to approach the internship search. 

6. External Job and Internship Search Resources 

Use this airtable to identify common websites that post internships 

7. Pathways to Science 

Undergraduates can search for research opportunities across the US. Select the “Advanced Search,” then “Only programs with upcoming deadlines” to see active postings. 

8. MIT Orbit 

 MIT community members interested in entrepreneurship can use this resource to search for internship opportunities with MIT affiliated startups 

9. YES Internship Program 

While the YES Internship program applications closed for 2021, it’s a great resource for future summer experiences. The program connects undergraduates with starts ups looking to hire summer interns across several universities.

10. The Entrepreneurship Internship Program – Applications Open until Sunday, March 28th (8:00pm Eastern) 

Offered through the Martin Trust Center of Entrepreneurship, there are 7 job opportunities available for MIT undergraduates. If you missed this year’s application deadline, bookmark the program for a future cycle!
